The O'Brien Experience

built by O'Brien

With Aggressive Style,
Off-Road Capability
and a commanding view of the road less traveled

If you're looking for more style, improved off-road capability and a more commanding view of the road ahead, a lifted Nissan truck from O'Brien Team Nissan in Bloomington, IL, is the perfect solution. In fact, as far as style is concerned, adding truck lift kits makes more of an impression than anything else you can do to your new Nissan Titan, Titan XD or Frontier. Heads turn instantly at the sight of a professionally-lifted new or pre-owned O'Brien Nissan truck with big tires and a stance that shows your truck means business.

So ... whether you're interested in buying an already-lifted Nissan truck or you'd like to have yours lifted, we can provide everything you need to send you home in style in your dream vehicle!

We invite you to stop by our dealership near Normal, IL, to browse our selection of lifted Nissan trucks, including lifted Titan models, lifted Titan XD Diesel trucks and lifted Frontier models. And while you're here, if you see a truck that's right for you that hasn't been lifted, we have the lift kits and expertise to lift any Nissan truck after you purchase it so it can look and perform precisely the way you want it to!

If you off-road with your truck there's no question about the need for a good suspension lift. But there is much more to lifting a truck than giving it the ability to slog through the backwoods or climb hills. Of course a lifted truck looks cool, but there’s some real benefit to getting your truck a little higher off the ground and a few of them you may have not even thought of. Here are four of the benefits of having the professionals at O'Brien Nissan build you a nice new or pre-owned lifted Frontier or Titan from our inventory... or even lift the Nissan truck you currently own.

Even the toughest four-wheel drive truck can easily become snagged on a log or large rock on a well-traveled trail while a lifted truck will have the additional clearance necessary to drive over obstacles without a second thought. A lifted Nissan Truck can easily climb over common road obstacles, washouts, ditches, debris and even curbs without causing damage to the undercarriage, fuel tank or other major mechanical components. An O'Brien professionally-lifted truck also allows you to attack rough terrain with improved approach, breakover and departure angles -- determining how steep of a hill you can climb, how steep of a crest the truck can overcome and the steepest grade you can go down without digging your rear bumper into the hill. The higher your truck is the better all three of these angles will be. Bumpers and suspension also play a part, but lift really matters.

The higher center of gravity provided by lifting your Nissan truck can make it safer to haul heavier loads like a large trailer or big boat. Raising your truck even a few inches can give you a better ride with a trailer attached and make loading and unloading easier, especially if you are putting your favorite boat in the water. Obviously you have to back into the water to unload and if the boat ramp isn’t built well, you could find yourself up to your doors with water before the boat is ready to come off.

If you're looking for a more commanding view of the road ahead, a lifted Nissan Titan, Nissan Titan XD or lifted Nissan Frontier from O'Brien Team Nissan in Bloomington, IL, is the perfect solution. A lifted truck provides you a better view of the road, which translates to a safer ride on and off the road. A better view improves situational awareness and allows for quicker response to problems. This can help you avoid a wreck on the highway and keep you from getting stuck off-road. And the higher you are, the better the view.

Finally, it all comes down to the look. Driving a lifted truck can make you feel like king of the road in a lifted Nissan truck that just screams "awesome." While lifted trucks improve the off-road experience, they also add a level of coolness that no other upgrade can provide. In fact, our lifted NissanTitans and Nissan Frontiers are so cool, many owners buy them just for their looks, and would not be caught debt getting their shiny new truck dirty on a muddy trail. Whether you’re lifting your truck a few inches or more than a foot, a lifted truck has a better stance and all-around better style ... and you really can’t beat the look of a lifted truck with bigger tires. No matter where you go in a lifted Nissan Truck, you'll not only draw attention, you'll also be the envy of the other guys with their boring unlevel standard pickups. There's much to be said for just being cool.

Installing a lift kit is one of the best possible modifications for owners who crave that off-road experience, but are wondering which modifications will give them the most value for their efforts. Going off road, with an O'Brien-installed lift kit, will allow you to crawl over rough terrain with ease. Lift kits work by raising the body or the suspension of a stock Nissan Titan or stock Frontier.

Finding a place with the expertise to expertly lift a new Nissan truck can be difficult. That's why we not only have a team of technicians with the know-how to turn any Nissan truck into a lifted truck, but we also offer a selection of lifted Nissan trucks in stock! Whether you already have a Nissan truck you want lifted or you're looking to skip the process and buy a new or used truck that's already lifted, we can help you find what you're looking for right here at our Nissan dealership in Bloomington, IL!

What does a lift kit do?

Nissan Titan and Frontier owners are always looking for ways to improve the appearance and performance of their 4x4 rides. Raising the ride height is one of the most popular upgrades. Professionally installed lift kits raise the height of your truck allowing the installation of larger-diameter wheels and tires without any rubbing or contact against the vehicle’s fenders, providing greater traction off-road and more strength to tow hefty loads. Lift kits also enable steeper ascent or descent off-road as well as higher ground clearance. According to ‘How Off-road Vehicles Work,’ a vehicle’s suspension has three main jobs: smooth out bumps, keep tires touching the road and control vehicle stability. A body lift will raise the truck anywhere from 1-3 inches by lifting the body from the frame of the truck. This type of lift will not increase any of the ground clearance, though it does increase the height of the wheel wells slightly so larger tires may be able to be used. A suspension lift creates more room between the ground and the axles, improving handling as well the ground clearance, which is perfect for off-roading. Suspension lits raise a truck 4-6 inches, though the tallest kits will raise a truck 18 inches.

Why should I buy a lifted ride?

There are two basic reasons for purchasing an O'Brien Nissan custom-lifted ride: style and performance. What you drive is not only a means of getting around but it can also defnine your personality -- and nothing says tough like the head-turning aggressive stance of a lifted Nissan Titan or Frontier. However, adding custom lift components and quality all-terrain or mud-terrain tires not only looks great, it can dramatically improve ride comfort and traction in a variety of road conditions. Heavy-duty and work trucks also benefit from being lifted, because bigger tires often carry an increased load rating, improving the ride and safety when hauling heavy tools or cargo, and for vehicles that constantly tow a trailer. Larger tires with more grip will also help you make it through snow and maneuver easily on wet surfaces. You rely on your Nissan pickup truck for so many things you and your family do, so it's natural to want the most comfortable ride and performance possible. With the right kit and suspension set-up your O'Brien lifted Nissan Titan will handle better and ride more comfortably and allow you to tackle any terraiin with confidence whether you're climbing a mountain or trekking through a fierce Illinois snowstorm.

If you're looking for a lifted Nissan truck, you've come to the right place. Our Nissan-certified technicnas at O'Brien Nissan have the suspension kits, leveling kits and body kits that Bloomington area truck owners who want to raise their profiles love.

There are many things to consider when buying a lifted truck, especially if it’s your very first. Always keep in mind that what may work for someone else, may not work for you. Driving style, personal preference, and the kind of off-roading you plan to do will dictate what lift kit will fit your needs best. It's not as easy as walking into a store and saying, "Hook me up with a lift kit for my Nissan Titan."

That's why our skilled Nissan technicians have a vast knowledge of the parts and pieces available and know exactly which ones to use on your particularly truck to give you the ride, the performance and the results you desire. There are many brands to choose from and we know which parts work perfectly with your particular Nissan.

When taking your truck off-roading, your wheels and tires are undoubtedly going to take a beating. We recommend steel wheels for our custom lifted Nissan trucks because of their strength. Here are a few advantages to steel wheels:

  • Longevity. Steel wheels are less porous, which means they're good at handle off-roading conditions.
  • Composition. Steel wheels are stamped so they're more symmetrical, which will help with rocky and uneven terrain.
  • Durability. Steel wheels are stronger than alloy and can withstand just about any type of road conditions.

Steel truck wheels are the way to go for off road use. They are built slightly heavier than cast or forged alloy wheels, largely due to solid construction and heavy-duty composition. Ultimately, the heavier build provides better durability and a more consistent architecture all-around, making them perfect for those looking to take on harsh terrain. Also, steel wheels are typically more uniform, and therefore, less prone to wobbling.

In terms of off-roading tires, Bloomington, IL, lifted truck buyers have two different kinds to choose from: bias and radial. The type of off-road truck tire you choose all depends on your driving habits and what you use your vehicle for.

Bias Truck Tires work well in the most extreme situations, like deep mud, jagged rocks, and bumpy trails. The tread will help your truck grip rough terrain and maintain proper traction.

Radial Truck Tires can't take constant thrashing, so they're better for drivers who do not go off-roading as much. They provide a smooth ride on normal roads and can perform quite well on the occasional off-roading excursion.

Choosing the right lift kit with attention to comfort, reliability, durability, safety and price should be given just as much consideration as those precious inches you want to add. That's why you should put your trust in the lifted truck specialists at O'Brien Nissan of Bloomington, IL.

Suspension kits are ideal for adding an extra few inches to your Bloomington area Nissan truck. This kit itself is fitted to your suspension to add length between the chassis and tires. Trucks can gain anywhere from one to three inches of height with a suspension lift kit. Our A.S.E. Certified technicians install several types of lift kits.

Leveling lift kits are slightly different from suspension lift kits. Leveling lift kits are essentially strut extensions that add two to three inches to your truck. Most leveling lift kits bolt-on directly and don't alter ride quality as much as a suspension lift kit or body lift kit can.

Body kits are designed to add one to three inches to your truck or SUV by adding spacers and fittings between the chassis and the body of your vehicle. Body kits require precise measurements and could be dangerous for a DIY mechanic to finish in a garage. The auto service center at O'Brien Nissan has the proper tools and shop equipment  to add a body kit correctly and safely.
